Anti-Human Caspase-3 Active Subunit (p17) (clone C31.129) recognizes the human 17-20 kDa cleaved active subunit of caspase 3 and does not react with the inactive proenzymes. The antibody was developed using a synthetic peptide with residues mapping to the N-terminus of the (p17) subunit of human caspase 3. The antibody has not been tested for species cross-reactivity or cross reactivity with other caspases.
Caspase-3 is a member of the caspase family of cysteine proteases and plays a key role in mediating Fas (CD95) and tumor necrosis factor–1 (TNFR-1) induced apoptosis. Caspases can be divided into three groups: apoptotic initiators, apoptotic executioners, and inflammatory mediators.1,2 Caspase-3 is activated during apoptotic signaling events by upstream proteases including caspase 6 and caspase 8.3 Caspase-3 is thought to be essential for chromatin margination, DNA fragmentation and nuclear collapse during apoptosis.3

This purified antibody is formulated with no preservatives and 1% BSA and 50% glycerol in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl.
Storage and Stability
This antibody does not contain preservatives and must be stored at –20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
