Specificity: TLR2 agonist
Working concentration: 107-108 cells/ml
Endotoxin level: EndoFit™ (<0.001 EU/μg)
Solubility: Insoluble (resuspended HKLP results in a cloudy suspension)
HKLP is provided lyophilized and shipped at room temperature. Store at 4°C. Upon resuspension, prepare aliquots of HKLP and store at 4° C for short term storage or -20° C for long storage. Resuspended product is stable 1 month at 4° C and 6 months at -20° C when properly stored.
Legionella pneumophila, a Gram negative bacterium, is the causative agent of legionnaires’ disease which is characterized by severe pneumonia. Although TLR4 is involved in host defense against gram negative bacteria infection, it is not activated or is activated only to a limited extent by L.pneumophila . L. pneumophila requires TLR2 rather than TLR4 to induce the production of cytokines . Stimulation with heat-killed L. pneumophila (HKLP) induces the activation of NF-κB in TLR2-expressing HEK293 cells but not in TLR4-expressing HEK293 cells.
